Biography

Sierra Duffey is a multidisciplinary artist and writer in Montreal, Quebec. Through sassy poetry and colourful photographs, she creates art that plays with documentation versus shaping the surreal. Sierra explores a wide array of topics that fuel late-night Wikipedia scrolling - cults, deep ecology, queer history, and true crime - to name a few. She is the author of Lemon Drop Lyrics (Cactus Press, 2023). Her work has been published in PACE Magazine, Lantern Magazine, flo. and displayed at the School of the Photographic Arts Ottawa (SPAO) and the Morrin Centre of Quebec.

Lemon Drop Lyrics is a wild mix of poetic pieces that play with joy, power, energy, and hallucination.

This collection intends to demonstrate the artistry and playfulness of the creative process. Concise poems like False Positive play with idioms and the significance of a title. Other, meandering poems like Pear-Smoke Dopamine provide meditations on the meaning of joy and how to find it.

Zesty and unpredictable, Lemon Drop Lyrics is an expression of experimentation. It is a collection that pays tribute to free form, oral tradition, and pure, unfiltered imagination.
